Cable Bus

What Ram speed can my macbook take?
people say my Macbook can only have a ram speed of 667mhz any more and it wont work others say (e.g. if the ram was 800mhz) that ram’s optimum usage is 800mhz so if the computer only takes 667mhz it would automatically read the SPD timing off of the RAM and lower the speed to 667mhz ???
but what about the bus speed of my computer? its 800mhz is this linked to to the ram? does this mean a 800mhz ram could work?
because my understanding is the the rams speed is 800 so its can go through the cables (bus speed) of 800???
set me right? tell me a 800mhz ram will work in my macbook
specs:
2.1ghz intel core 2 duo
You can put DDR2-800 RAM into a MacBook but as you know it will throttle down to 667 MHz speeds. From what I understand, this is a limitation due to the memory controller. Even though the FSB is 800 MHz (200×4) the RAM is limited at 667 MHz.
